Are the cars at Lexus New York dealers really just expensive Toyotas? That was basically the question we were addressing in an earlier post. One of the ways we've chosen to address this question is to look at Lexus cars that Lexus car dealers in New York would have and compare them to suspect Toyota vehicles. We will do this simply, actually look of the vehicles' appearance and ask a question: would you mistake these Toyota cars for any of the Lexus cars?

We could use a simple definition for this criteria:
Appearance - how a car looks.
But this is the Lexus New York 360 blog so appearance can mean from any angle, in various lighting, a highway speed being passed, etc. At the start we'll take a look at images of our various suspect Toyotas. You tell me, do any of these look like they would pass for Lexus cars? Now let me preface this, I took a look at all Toyota models and eliminated the ones that were obviously not going to match. For instance, nothing the Lexus New York dealers have would ever be mistaken for a Yaris. This same is true of the Prius. With that in mind we also know there is no Lexus pickup so based solely on appearance those models can be eliminated. Now the remaining pictures are in order or ease. Is it easy to picture this Toyota as the basis for any 2007 or 2008 Lexus cars?
Toyota Landcruiser

Toyota 4Runner

Toyota Avalon

Toyota Camry

Toyota Highlander

Toyota Sequoia

Any opinions? Perhaps I should remind you of the Lexus cars available at Lexus New York dealers to assist you.
Here are the Lexus cars that you can choose from:
Lexus ES
Lexus GS
Lexus IS
Lexus LS
Lexus GX
Lexus LX
Lexus RX
Which ones go with which based on appearance? If you were walking through Manhattan or driving in upstate and didn't know you were looking at a Toyota, would you mistake any of these cars for what you'd expect to see at a New York Lexus dealership on display?
